Overview

Mission
Loma Linda University Community Medical Center is a 120-bed acute-care hospital that opened in 1972 and joined Adventist Health System-Loma Linda, in 1982. LLUCMC merged with Loma Linda University Medical Center on January 1, 1994, and is located a short distance east of the Medical Center.

Just for Seniors
LLUCMC’s Just for Seniors club (for individuals over 60 years of age) has almost 8,000 members. Seniors receive free services to improve their overall lifestyle--quarterly newsletters, cafeteria and gift shop discounts, VIP parking, hospital room upgrades, plus complimentary rooms for family members (if space is available), notary services, programs such as monthly health screening/education, free annual flu shots, and other programs of interest to seniors such as 55 Alive and health plan information.

As early as 6:00 a.m. on October 1, hundreds of cars lined up and crowds of people gathered at Community Medical Center as seniors from all over the Inland Empire took advantage of the walk-up/drive-through flu clinic presented by LLUCMC’s Just for Seniors club. More than 1,400 seniors received their flu shots free of charge. The event was corporately sponsored by PrimeAmerica Medical Group Network.

1997 highlights
A flu shot clinic was held in October, which served more than 1,400 seniors.

A sleep study laboratory opened in March.

An executive fitness program opened in May.

The physician’s lounge was remodeled.

New Hill-Rom beds were purchased for the intensive care and cardiac care units.

Information systems were improved by connecting to Medical Center systems.

The gastroenterology lab was moved into the operating room to improve patient flow and service.

The facility upgraded to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements to improve handicapped accessibility.

VIP rooms were designated and remodeled.
