Purpose & accomplishments
The University Councilors were organized in 1961 with the purpose of advising the president of the University; assisting the president in developing and enhancing the University as an institution of higher education and service; serving as ambassadors for the University; promoting the goals and plans of the University in the business and professional community, and in the Seventh-day Adventist Church; and providing counsel, support, and leadership in the financing of University projects and development.

The Councilors have raised more than
$20 million to underwrite a number of
campus-wide projects and programs. Some of the more recent projects include the following:

Distance learning
University residence halls (funds currently in reserve)
Students for International Mission Service (SIMS) and Social Action Community Health System (SACHS) clinic (challenge grant)
Drayson Center
School of Allied Health Professions (endowment fund scholarships)
School of Dentistry (student loan fund)
School of Public Health (multi-purpose laboratory and amino acid analyzer)
