Mission
The Board of Trustees has endorsed a structure for University-wide faculty governance composed of an Interschool Faculty Advisory Council (IFAC) and a Faculty Forum. Its purpose is to cooperate with the administration to create, maintain, and protect an environment conducive to the development of scholarly learning, teaching, research, and patient care, and promote spiritual growth within a Seventh-day Adventist Christian context.

1997–98 academic year highlights
IFAC held regularly scheduled meetings attended by representatives from all LLU schools.

Retreats: An all-day IFAC retreat was held on July 30 at Lake Arrowhead dealing with a variety of issues. Faculty participated in the process of drafting LLU’s response to and participation in the Total Commitment to God document from the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. Another all-day retreat was held on June 16 in conjunction with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges steering committee, dealing with issues relating to the accreditation process, as well as other IFAC concerns.

On a continuing basis, IFAC made suggestions for revisions and changes—as well as extending approval to—many existing and new University policies.

Participated in the process of planning, organizing, and leading out at the LLU Faculty Convocation on September 24

Continued to explore and develop projects such as a faculty pictorial directory, an enhanced IFAC participation in new faculty orientation, and various others

Made appropriate changes in the IFAC governing document, to appear in the new edition of the Faculty Handbook

Discussed and acted on various topics brought to the agenda by faculty, IFAC representatives, and University administration

Provided faculty representation on the LLU Board of Trustees and its committees
