More than 100 Loma Linda University and
La Sierra University students were recognized at the minority consecration
service held on May 13 at the La Sierra Spanish Seventh-day Adventist
Church in Riverside. During the service Curtis A. Fox, PhD, assistant
professor of counseling and family sciences, Graduate School, and Clara
M. Jorge Ramirez, MEd, assistant professor, division of general studies,
Graduate School, were honored (respectively) by the Black Health Professionals
Student Association of LLU and the Association of Latin American Students
of LLU for their outstanding leadership and support of minority students
and the principles of diversity. The program, jointly sponsored by the
LLU office of diversity and the La Sierra University office of the president,
celebrates the progress of the minority graduates on each campus. This
year, La Sierra and Loma Linda had more than 250 minority students graduating.
