Sixteen high school students and their
program director, Leroy Reese, MD (front row, left), pose for a photo
on the last day of classes for the Minority Introduction to the Health
Sciences (MITHS) program. The program, which is sponsored by the Black
Alumni of Loma Linda and La Sierra Universities and Loma Linda University,
was created to introduce promising Black Seventh-day Adventist high school
students to a career in the health sciences, and to stimulate these students
to pursue an educational track specifically designed to prepare them for
an academic/teaching career in the health sciences after attending Loma
Linda University.
