For the second time in as many years, students from the School of Allied Health Professions department of health information management have placed third in the nation on the national registry examination.
"We are extremely proud of our graduates from the class of 2000," says Marilyn R. Davidian, MA, chair, department of health information management. "All 11 of our students passed the national registry examination given to health information students throughout the nation."
The Loma Linda program is one of 54 baccalaureate degree programs in the United States.
"The School of Allied Health Professions offers the only baccalaureate- level health information management program in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon," adds Ms. Davidian. "All other programs offered in these states are nonbaccalaureate-level programs."
Two of Loma Linda's graduates passed with "distinction," Ms. Davidian says. "Deepa Hemady scored in the 99th percentile and was only three
points lower than the top score in the nation. Susan Murphy scored in the 95th percentile."
All of the graduates are currently employed or attending graduate school, according to Ms. Davidian. While most of the graduates are employed in the Southern California area, one has found employment in Hong Kong.
