The Loma Linda University public affairs team recently received awards for two of its publications from the Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) 2001 competition and the 2001 Healthcare Advertising Awards competition.
The SIMS Outlook-Millennium Edition received the Apex 2001 Award of Excellence in the "One to Two Person-Produced Magazines & Journals" category.

The APEX awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the overall effectiveness of communication. The judges also recognized exceptional entries in 97 subcategories.
This is the 13th annual APEX competition for communications specialists.

It is sponsored by the Healthcare Marketing Report, a national newspaper for health-care marketing. This is the 18th annual competition. Receiving the Merit Award in the "Publication/External" category was SCOPE, the flagship magazine of the institution.
