Kids' Health column celebrates one-year anniversary in Riverside Press EnterpriseUndergraduates attend workshop on dental careersThe Kids' Health column, written by pediatricians from Loma Linda University Children's Hospital, recently reached its one-year anniversary. Last year, the department of pediatrics made a commitment to provide articles about children's health to the Riverside Press Enterprise. The Kids' Health column is written as a community service and appears every other Sunday. John W. Mace, MD, professor and chair of the department of pediatrics, believes strongly in the importance of maintaining the Kids' Health column. "This is an excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to improving children's care in our community," Dr. Mace says. "Further, helping educate the public about health and disease is one of the responsibilities of a children's hospital." Twenty-three Children's Hospital physicians and dentists contributed to the column. Ronald M. Perkin, MD, medical director of the pediatric intensive care unit, wrote the column four times and believes the column is important. "As the Children's Hospital and tertiary care academic center for the Inland Empire, we are likely to know the most current trends in health care as well as existing disease patterns in our community," Dr. Perkin explains. "It is our responsibility to make this information known to the public." [Scope, Autumn '97 contents] [NEWSCOPE contents]
