Hispanic Alumni of LLU name alumnus of the year for 2001

Abraham A. Acosta, MD, MPH, was honored as alumnus of the year by the Hispanic Alumni of Loma Linda University (HALL). He received his MD in 1980 from the University of Cartagena. In 1989, he received a master of public health degree in international health from LLU. Dr. Acosta has been a rural doctor, medical director of the Adventist Medical Center in Barranquilla, conference health and temperance director, ordained district pastor, and Colombian Union department head for health and communications; and scientific director and host of the TV program “Health For All.” In December, 1995, he was named president of the Adventist University in Chile, which is a responsibility he holds to this day.
