'When I was ill you came to my help'
![]() |
When I was hungry, you gave me food; when thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was a stranger you took me into your home, when naked you clothed me; when I was ill you came to my help, when in prison you visited me. Matthew 25:35-36, The New English Bible
The mission of Loma Linda University and Loma Linda University Medical Center is to further the healing ministry of Jesus Christ "to make man whole." Together with our world partners in this healing ministry, we are dedicated to the fulfillment of our divine commission. In this issue of SCOPE, join us as we offer a small glimpse into the global outreach that touches the lives of a hurting worldófrom an alumnus braving war itself as he ministers to ethnic Albanians in crowded refugee camps, to students working hand-in-hand with medical professionals in India, to faculty who donate their time to offer free dental care to small children in a remote corner of Russia, to an alumna as she labors for land-mine victims in Yemen. In the life of Christ, the Loma Linda family of faculty, students, graduates, staff, and administrators finds the role model for personal and professional daily living. We are called to be coworkers with Christ and partners in mission.
