New chancellor appointed for Loma Linda University

The Loma Linda University Board of Trustees, meeting in full session on Monday, February 5, 2001, appointed Richard H. Hart, MD, DrPH, as chancellor of Loma Linda University. Dr. Hart is currently dean of the University's School of Public Health. Dr. Hart will retain his position as dean until a new dean is appointed by the Board of Trustees.

In this new position, Dr. Hart reports to B. Lyn Behrens, MBBS, president and chief executive officer of Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center. Dr. Hart also serves as the chief operating officer of Loma Linda University and is responsible for directing the institution's day-by-day operations.

"The chancellor has the authority and responsibility to operate the University in all of its activities, schools, and departments subject only to the reserve powers allotted to the president of the University by its Board of Trustees," Dr. Behrens says.
In addition to his duties as chancellor of the University and dean, Dr. Hart is also president of Adventist Health International (AHI), a corporate entity within the family of Seventh-day Adventist Church organizations.
