LLUMC wins NRC award for fifth time

Loma Linda University Medical Center is the recipient of the consumer choice award for the fifth year in a row.

The award, presented annually by the National Research Corporation (NRC) of Lincoln, Nebraska, focuses on consumer perception of hospitals around the nation. This year, 112 hospitals were recognized by the NRC.

For nearly two decades, the NRC has provided health-care organizations with the most current customer satisfaction data available.

Loma Linda's award was based on the following areas: (1) hospital quality image profile, hospital product line preference, and visit satisfaction; (2) medical care satisfaction; (3) and best nurses.

Loma Linda University Medical Center was ranked five times higher over the next ranked hospital in the "best image/reputation" area. In the area of "best doctors" and "best overall quality," Loma Linda's physicians ranked four times higher over the next closest hospital listed in the survey.

In the area of "best nurses," Loma Linda University Medical Center's nurses were ranked nearly three times higher than the closest competing medical facility.

This year, 18,190 California households were surveyed as part of the study.

In a survey conducted last year in cooperation with <drkoop.com>, the NRC named Loma Linda University Medical Center as one of the 124 top hospitals in the nation for heart care. More than 2,500 hospitals around the country were compiled as part of the survey.

In 1998, the National Research Corporation was recognized as the 43rd largest and fastest growing research company in the nation.

The NRC also provides research services to federal and state agencies and business coalitions.
