August 27, 1998 [TODAY, August 27, 1998] SOS clinic thanks students from School
of Dentistry Participants needed for research project at School of Dentistry The Food and Drug Administration has approved a two-year clinical trial to study a newly formulated toothpaste. Sponsored by Colgate, the study is being conducted at the clinical research center in the Center for Dental Research located on Taylor Street in Loma Linda. Individuals with a minimum of 10 teeth may participate. For enrollment information, please call (909) 558-8178. Participants will receive $75 if they complete examinations at baseline, at one year, and at two years. [Top of page] School of Dentistry releases deanŐs list The academic review committee of the School of Dentistry voted recently to reward outstanding academic performance by publication of a deanŐs list each quarter. The eligibility requirements are: (1) achieve a term grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than a B-; (2) receive no incomplete grades for the quarter; and (3) complete at least 12 units of coursework during the quarter. Students named to the 1998 spring quarter deanŐs list include: Dentistry class of 2001: Jeremy Burden, Kyung-Hoon Chung, Samuel Demirdji, Brian Hanratty, Mark Honce, Eunice Hong, Philip Jo, Sooho Joe, John Kavanagh, Jin-Hyuk Kim, Kyo Kim, Micheal Knoll, Kenneth Krauss, Hyun Min Lee, Cherisse Loo, Annie Ngo, Holly Nguyen, Dan Nydegger, Jennifer Oh, Won Hum Park, Aaron Soeprono, Ryan Thomas, Myduyen Tran, Vina Tran, and Robert Wells. [Top of page] School of Dentistry continuing education courses rate high With one of the smallest staffs in continuing dental education providers, Loma Linda University School of Dentistry has soared ahead of the other 54 dental schools in the United States and Canada, according to a survey by the Association of Continuing Dental Educators. For the second consecutive year, the School of Dentistry sponsored the most courses and enrolled the most attendees of any continuing education program in North America--holding 164 courses with 7,141 attendees for the past fiscal year. The University of California, San Francisco, was second, reporting almost 80 courses with 6,200 attendees.
