SPH holds awards and scholarships banquet

| The School of Public
Health held its annual awards and recognition banquet beginning
at 6:30 p.m. on June 3 at Wong Kerlee International Conference

School of Public Health advisory boards meet
On May 9, the School of Public Health department of health promotion
and education hosted the annual meeting of its community advisory
board for the maternal-child health program. Attending the 6:00
p.m. dinner and meeting were board members, faculty, and students

School of Public Health hosts PLANET campaign
kickoff
In celebration of International Day of Families (May 15), Loma
Linda University and Population Action International hosted a dinner
on May 21 to introduce the PLANET campaign.
Held on the LLU campus at Wong Kerlee International Conference Center,
the event launched a series of programs slated to occur throughout
the greater San Bernardino area. These programs will focus on the
PLANET campaign, a national effort to raise public awareness about
the importance of family planning programs in developing countries.
Keynote speaker at the dinner, Amy Coen, is president of Population
Action International, one of six organizations which are sponsoring
the PLANET campaign.
Other organizations involved in the campaign include CARE, Communications
Consortium Media Center, the National Audubon Society, Planned Parenthood
Federation of America, and Save the Children.
The PLANET campaign is being funded by the David and Lucille Packard
Foundation and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
Loma Linda University presenters included Barbara A. Anderson, DrPH,
professor and chair of international health, School of Public Health;
and David T. Dyjack, DrPH, associate professor and chair of environmental
and occupational health. Richard H. Hart, MD, DrPH, University chancellor
and dean, School of Public Health, also spoke during the dinner.
