Loma Linda University news March 12, 1998 Ball Banquet The 15th annual schoarship banquet sponsored by the Black Alumni of Loma Linda and La Sierra Universities (BALL), was held February 28 in Los Angeles. Over 300 guests attended the event. B. Lyn Behrens, MBBS, president, Loma Linda University, greets banquet guests and congratulates BALL on celebrating 15 years of academic excellence. Nyron H. R. McLean, president of BALL, presents Dr. Behrens with a crystal vase and certificate of appreciation for her continued support of BALL and future Black professionals. W. Augustus Cheatham, MSW, vice president for public affairs, LLU, presents Gwendolyn Winston Foster, MS, with the 1988 Ball alumna of the year award for Loma Linda University. Nikki Giovanni, professor of English, Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Blacksborg, captures the crowd with her witty straight-forward talk. Leroy Reese, MD, presents Donald G. Pursely, DBA, vice president for financial affairs, LLU, with a door prize. Dr. Pursley guessed how manuy pieces of candy were in a jar within four pieces.
