Loma Linda University Community Medical Center name change focuses facility’s new direction

The latest change at the East Campus of Loma Linda University Medical
Center is just the next step toward the realization of the vision for
a world-class facility dedicated to the needs of its local, national,
and global community. The Community Medical Center recently adopted the
name of Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus Specialty Hospital
to better reflect the clustering of services being organized on the East
Campus. These services, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, neurosurgery, and
family medicine, are being incorporated into the overarching goal for
the 23-acre campus.
“ The naming of the hospital is really aligning it with the strategy for
the East
Campus,” says Michael Jackson, MPH, senior vice president and administrator
of East Campus. The clustering of these particular service lines at LLUMC East
Campus Specialty Hospital offer tangible benefits to patients and their families.
The single-campus location for these related services gives patients one-stop
access to medical experts in specialty fields. Literally, the closeness of these
services to each other will make it physically simpler for patients to receive
the care they need.
The strategy to create a healing environment for the campus has been three years
in the making. Aimed at providing whole-person care, the reorganization of orthopaedics,
rehabilitation, neurosurgery, and family medicine together initiates the first
real benefits of the strategy for patients. The complementing services at LLUMC
East Campus Specialty Hospital will help expedite the continuum of care in the
on-going effort to make man whole.
