School of Pharmacy students attend National Pharmaceutical Assocation
annual meeting
 |
The award pictured above was presented
to students from the School of Pharmacy at the 56th annual convention
of the National Pharmaceutical Association “in recognition
of outstanding chapter projects during the 2002-2003 activity year.” |
“Daring to Explore New Opportunities” was the theme of
the 56th annual convention of the National Pharmaceutical Association
(NPhA) held at the Ritz-Carlton Resort on Lake Las Vegas in Lake Las
Vegas, Nevada, from July 19 to 23. Students from the School of Pharmacy
attended the conference and the student chapter of NPhA received its
first award—3rd place for the professional activities performed.
Kelly Lam, Cindy Ung, Chioma Ndulue-Ledet, Joanna Robbins, and Joel Thacker
were present to receive the award. The award is proudly displayed at
the School of Pharmacy in West Hall.
NPhA was founded in 1946 by Dean Chauncey Cooper of Howard University’s
School of Pharmacy, Washington, DC, because Blacks were not permitted to join
other organizations. The National Pharmaceutical Association is dedicated to
representing the views and ideas of minority pharmacists on critical issues affecting
health care and pharmacy; as well as advancing the standards of pharmaceutical
care among all practitioners.
