Nearly 500 seniors attend Senior Day at Drayson Center

More than 200 senior guests registered for Senior Day 2003, and close to 500 seniors attended the September 26 event. In this photo, senior volunteer Juanita Chi directs a senior toward the entrance while Bette Rhoads (left, seated) looks on.

The area just past the service desk was busy throughout the day. Senior volunteers and Drayson Center staff were on hand to direct seniors to the various events and activities.

Low-impact aerobics, led by David Hessinger, PhD, professor of physiology and pharmacology, School of Medicine, drew a crowd of participants and spectators.

Vivi Burns, director of membership services for the Just for Seniors program, helps direct several seniors to the next event. Just for Seniors co-sponsored the event and had a booth where new members were able to sign up.

Many of those who attended were cheerfully greeted by senior volunteer Pat Gillies.

Mikki Medina, events coordinator for Drayson Center, takes the blood pressure for a senior at the blood pressure screening station.

Presenter Diana Su-Erickson, OTR, an occupational therapist from Loma Linda VA Medical Center, speaks to seniors about issues of balance, motor skills, and how to avoid injury.

Donald Sease (right), director of Drayson Center, chats with a senior during the morning.
