Annie Zhang, assistant to the president of the Children’s Hospital at Zhejiang University School of Medicine, spent two months, from August 24 to October 24, learning about programs at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.

“I’m the first one from my hospital to come here,” says Ms. Zhang. “So I’m like a coordinator.”

During her time at Children’s Hospital, Ms. Zhang witnessed the Stater Bros./KFROGGERS for Kids radiothon and the Cops for Kids Fly In, and she learned about the volunteer and child life programs.

“They are so sweet here and like to share their experiences with me,” says Ms. Zhang. She says she is very interested in initiating aspects of the volunteer and child life program in the Zhejiang University Children’s Hospital.

On her last day, Zareh Sarrafian, MBA, administrator of Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, and Janel Isaeff, RN, executive director of patient nursing for LLUCH, presented Ms. Zhang with a certificate of  achievement.

“I think this is an opportunity for both of us to learn from each other,” says Mr. Sarrafian.

“Before I go, I wanted to express my thanks and offer the welcome of my president, Zhao Zheng Yan,” says Ms. Zhang. She presented to Mr. Sarrafian a roll-out fabric painting depicting a silhouette of HangZhou city alongside the West Lake.

The Children’s Hospital at Zhejiang University School of Medicine is the largest comprehensive center for pediatric health care in the Zhejiang Province of China.
