Four new SAHP chairs attend ACE conference in San Diego
Four new department chairs in the Loma Linda University School of Allied Health Professions attended a conference for department chairs from community colleges and universities around the United States, organized by the American Council on Education. Attending the event, held February 21–23 in San Diego, were (from left): Rodney Roath, MBA, new chair of clinical laboratory sciences; Laura Alipoon, EdD, new chair of radiation technology; and David Lopez, EdD, new chair of cardiopulmonary sciences. Not pictured is Ken Bourne, DrPH, new chair of the department of physician assistant sciences. “We were able to interact with department chairs from all types of disciplines,” comments Dr. Alipoon. “Many of the issues we face as department chairs in the health sciences are similar to the ones faced by department chairs in the liberal arts or other areas.” The new SAHP department chairs agree that one of the best benefits of the conference was the chance to become better acquainted with each other and discuss ways to collaborate more effectively.
