Parking lot nears completion

Centennial Complex and Parking Lot
After a crane operators’ strike, which lasted two and one-half weeks, work has resumed on the steel frame of the Centennial Complex. The left photo depicts the east elevation of the building, with the third floor clearly visible to the left. At the far right, behind the block wall, steel columns were recently erected for the two large amphitheaters. Of great interest to all on campus is the progress on the new parking lot, which will surround the Complex. The land, which was once part of the old track and field behind Gentry Gymnasium, has now been paved and striped (see photo on right). According to Robert Cole, University supervisor of the project, “The parking lot is on schedule for completion by September 21. Landscaping is ongoing while the western section of the parking lot is being readied for the asphalt and by the end of August, workers will begin to install the lighting.”
