Philip Boyne, DMD, emeritus professor, department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, was one of 463 volunteers.
As the sun’s first rays appear on Sunday, January 27, Clinic With a Heart, providing free dental care for the community, was in full swing. Patients began arriving at midnight, sheltered from the rain by tents provided by LLU. Nursing students took blood pressures as volunteers prepared charts and dental and dental hygiene students talked about oral health care to those waiting under the tents.

Forty-seven faculty members volunteered for Clinic With a Heart. They included (from left): Nikola Angelov, DDS, PhD, MS, associate professor; Robert Handysides, DDS, assistant professor; Gary Golden, DDS, assistant professor; Daniel Tan, DDS, professor; Sebastiano Andreana, DDS, MSc, professor; and Douglass Roberts, DDS, MS, professor. More than $38,000 in care was provided at no cost to members of the community. This year marks the 19th time the event has been held.
