Loma Linda University Medical Center recently appointed Sondra Leno as executive director of the registration and billing departments.

According to Cindy Schmidt, vice president for revenue cycle, Ms. Leno’s areas of expertise include financial analysis, managed care contracting, organizational and project management, productivity and budgeting, advanced business system implementations, root-cause process improvement, and cash-flow and accounts receivable management.

Ms. Leno sees the major focus of her assignment as “making sure we are adhering to the overall mission of the Medical Center, while putting processes in place to maximize net revenue.”

Before joining LLUMC, Ms. Leno was the controller at USC University Hospital in Los Angeles. Previously, she worked with a number of health care organizations—including Tenet Healthcare of California, PAPP Clinic (multi-specialty physician group), Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Aetna/US Healthcare, and Cigna—in a variety of financial management positions.

Ms. Leno is a former resident of the Inland Empire, returning after several years in Arizona and Georgia. She likes the weather and is enjoying the opportunity to be closer to family. She graduated in 1980 with a degree in accounting from Loma Linda University, La Sierra campus.

In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities, such as running and bicycling, as well as the more domestic pursuits of cooking and needlepoint.
