William Kiernan joins department of ophthalmology in SM Recently joining the department of ophthalmology is William Kiernan, OD, a pediatric ophthalmologist and adult strabismus, according to Howard V. Gimbel, MD, chair, department of ophthalmology in the School of Medicine.Dr. Kiernan received his undergraduate degree in biology from Saint John’s University, Jamaica, New York, and his doctor of optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry, Fullerton.A retired United States Air Force Colonel with the 163rd medical squadron at March Air Force Base, Riverside, Dr. Kiernan has been practicing optometry since 1981.He specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. Dr. Kiernan also manages preoperative and postoperative care of cataract and LASIK surgical patients.
