Reunion concert planned for Ponder-Harp-Jennings gospel foursome
Ponder, Harp, and Jennings gospel foursome
A reunion concert for the Ponder, Harp, and Jennings gospel foursome will be held Saturday evening, March 4, at 7:30 at the Loma Linda University Church of Seventh-day Adventists.
The concert will be held in association with the 74th annual convention of the School of Medicine alumni association.
Marvin Ponder, an associate pastor at the University Church, and Herman Harp have been singing together since they were students at Southwestern Adventist University, Keene, Texas. Later they sang together as a folk-singing duo at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Gene and Marie Jennings joined the group when Pastor Ponder was attending Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan. The trio conducted singspirations in the midwest for two years with Gene and Marie at the piano and organ.
When not performing, each of the group has their own profession. Pastor Ponder has been an associate pastor at the University Church since 1977. Mr. Harp resides in Cleveland, Tennessee, and has recently been performing full-time in gospel concerts with his wife. The Jennings live in Nashville, where he is a court reporter, and she is a management consultant.
Tickets for the concert are available at the School of Medicine alumni association office, and at the Loma Linda University student affairs office.
Ticket areas include a golden circle, available at $50, that incudes a post-concert reception with the artists. Other reserved seats are available at $35, $25, and $15 in forward reserved sections including the balcony. Open seating costs $10.
