This year the Orthopaedic Research Center, East Campus of Loma Linda University Medical Center, hosted eight students for their summer training. Ian Clarke, PhD, professor in orthopaedic research, designed an eight-week summer internship to be a combination of project work and writing of scientific manuscripts for presentation and publication. Loma Linda University students also had several opportunities to attend hip and knee joint surgeries at LLUMC-East Campus under the mentorship of surgeon Tom Donaldson, MD. The students were Ravi Chhabra, Pitzer, Claremont College; Nathaniel Chan, Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Kristan Guetenberg, MSIII, LLUMC; Anneli Jedenmalm, MS, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden; Jason Koelewyn, MSIII, LLUMC; Kevin Nasseri, MSc, UCLA School of Medicine; Henry Richardson, MSII, LLUMC; and Brenda Robertson, MSII, LLUMC. Two LLUMC students, Brenda Robertson and Henry Richardson, also presented their research work at a grand rounds surgical conference in the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial VA Hospital.
