August Calimesa Concert Series features Christian vocalist Fernando Ortega

A vocalist from Laguna Beach, California, heads up the billing for the initial program of the 2005–2006 Calimesa Community Concert Series on Saturday night, August 13, 2005, at University Church in Loma Linda, California.

The vocalist is a well-known Christian singer, Fernando Ortega, and he will have his band along to accompany his songs.

He is an award-winning Christian concert vocalist. He has been singing and recording for more than 16 years,  has won multiple Dove awards and nominations, and has produced 11 recordings.

The concert takes place at the recently renovated University Church and will be part of its annual August Summer Camp Meeting program. The program will be introduced by D. Robert Soderblom, director.

This is the 21st consecutive year that the Calimesa Seventh-day Adventist Church has sponsored the concert series.

Recently Mr. Ortega appeared before a combined conference audience of more than 130,000 people at Anaheim, California; Indianapolis, Indiana; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and  Tampa Bay, Florida. These were all family life/marriage conferences.

He was also the featured artist in three Anne Graham Lotz “Just Give Me Jesus” conferences held in San Juan, Puerto Rico; Seattle, Washington; and Chicago, Illinois. He also appeared at a Harvest Crusade at Anaheim, California, in front of 45,000 people.

In his earlier years, Mr. Ortega spent time at missionary schools in Quito, Ecuador, and then took studies in music education at the University of New Mexico. He was a high school teacher for four years before he decided to go into music ministry.

Tickets are $15 for front reserved seating and $10 for open seating. Tickets are available at the Loma Linda and Riverside ABC book stores, the Colton and Riverside Berean book stores, the Loma Linda University student affairs office, and the Loma Linda University Church office.
