School of Allied Health Professions homecoming 2006


Hair
Shirley Sing, admissions secretary, and Tony Valenzuela, EdD, assistant professor, department of physical therapy, consent to the 1960s beehive and afro contest at the dean’s 1960s bash on April 20. The 60s motif harked back to the year of the School’s founding, 1966. The homecoming festivities celebrated 40 years of School of Allied Health Professions history.

A mini-reunion group for clinical laboratory sciences poses at the April 22 alumni banquet, held this year at the San Berneradino Hilton includes (from left) Sam Chafin, former CLS instructor; John Haines, 1957 alumnus and former clinical instructor; Richard Roath, 1971 alumnus and former instructor; Takkin Lo, 1978 alumnus and former instructor, and his brother Takbiu Lo, 1982 alumnus; Teri Ross, 1982 alumna and current instructor; and Rodney Roath, 1980 alumnus and current interim deptartment chair. Richard and Rodney Roath are father/son and John Haines and Teri Ross are father/daughter. Takkin Lo was honored this year as the distinguished alumnus for the clinical laboratory sciences department. Each department honored one alumnus as distinguished and one current student as a rising star.

Pauline Calla,
Pauline Calla, 2005 alumna and health information management clinical coordinator and recruitment coordinator, gets a chance to serve up her plate at the Sabbath afternoon SAHP potluck. She also acted as the potluck coordinator.
Madge Oh and Kevin Bowen
Madge Oh, occupational therapy senior administrative assistant and alumni banquet coordinator, introduces pastor Kevin Bowen, Andrews University seminary student, as the vespers speaker and master of ceremonies for the banquet at the San Bernardino Hilton.
SAHP rising star
Each of the nine SAHP departments honored a current student as a rising star during the alumni banquet. This year’s rising stars are, from left, Robert Ibrahim, Sarah Rodriguez, Julia Hollister, Kimberly Caraig, Chris Telesmanic, Natalie Riotto, Tim Seavey, Jason Florendo, and Lindsey Simpson.
