People’s Choice, Inc., a non-profit organization based in San Bernardino, honored Eric Walsh, MD, medical director of urgent care at Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus, with a Leader of Youth Award at its second annual People’s Choice Salutes Leaders of Youth award banquet held May 25 at the San Bernardino Hilton Hotel.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Dr. Walsh is a graduate of Oakwood College, the University of Miami School of Medicine, and the Loma Linda University School of Public Health. He serves as the youth pastor at Mt. Rubidoux Seventh-day Adventist Church in Riverside, and he is also very involved in international missions. He has preached or worked all over the word and is currently involved in an adolescent health initiative in China.
Dr. Walsh also serves on the Centers for Disease Control breast and cervical cancer prevention committee, and as an executive board member for the National Physician Center for Family Resources.
So involved is Dr. Walsh that he was away serving as speaker for a week of prayer event out of state, and unable to attend the awards banquet. James Sampson, a close friend of Dr. Walsh’s since their time at Oakwood College, accepted the award on Dr. Walsh’s behalf that evening.
“I am very honored to have received that award,” says Dr. Walsh in an interview following the event. “I have a passion for young people and helping them live to their potential as well as having them know Christ as their savior.
“Mr. Sampson, as well as Pastor Andre Campbell, were there to accept the award on my behalf because they both do incredible work with young people as well.”
People’s Choice, Inc., is a diverse, dynamic community-driven organization, striving to create healthy, empowered families through the integration of support systems.
