WGEA regional conference hosted by School of Medicine
The 2006 Western Group on Educational Affairs (WGEA) regional conference held at the Asilomar Conference Cener in Pacific Grove, California, was hosted by LLU School of Medicine.
The theme for this year’s conference was “The Times They Are A-changing: Curricular Innovations Across the Continuum” was developed by program chair Raymond Wong, MD, associate professor of medicine in the School of Medicine.
Curricular changes at all levels of medical education was the primary topic of discussion during the spring conference.
“The conference presented a wonderful opportunity for faculty members and students to share their efforts in teaching, research, and service with colleagues of like mind,” Dr. Wong says. “I attended the plenary sessions and the workshops energized and motivated the participants.”
Twenty workshops were held during the course of the four-day meeting. In addition, two poster sessions were presented.
“The conference also provided the chance to renew acquaintances and make new friendships,” Dr. Wong says.
Next year, the program chair for the conference will be Carol Kamin, EdD, from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver.
