Loma Linda University Health Care recognized the service of 62 employees at a luncheon on June 8 held at Wong Kerlee International Conference Center. David Wren, MHA, CEO of UHC, thanked the roomful of employees, collectively representing 960 years of service.

“The mission of this great institution can only be achieved when every employee is devoted to doing his/her job in the best way possible with utmost integrity and compassion for all. Your hard work and commitment through the years have made LLUHC a better place for patients, physicians, and other employees,” says Mr. Wren.

“We have individuals in this room who have committed a good portion of their career to support physician services, essentially providing the support physicians need to treat patients,” says Mr. Wren.

George De Lange Jr., MBA, executive director of UHC, and W. Augustus Cheatham, MSW, vice president of public affairs for Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center, each welcomed the employees and congratulated them for their dedicated service to University Health Care.

The faculty practice plan was founded as a way for full-time faculty at the School of Medicine to do some clinical work to augment their income. In 1975, a committee was appointed to help define the faculty practice plan’s purpose, as well as to develop an integrated structure that would tie the plan to the School of Medicine. Today, Loma Linda University Health Care is the management service organization that supports the many programs and services provided by more than 600 faculty physicians. These physicians make up what is know as the faculty practice plan.
