On August 31, two representatives from Versacare presented $25,000 to Herbert Ruckle, MD, chief of urology at Loma Linda University Health Care. Both representatives, Derrill Yaeger, JD, and Robert Coy, JD, were also patients.
The money will be used to fund research on the outcomes of robotic prostatectomy with the use of the daVinci® Robotic Surgical System compared to the outcomes using traditional open surgery.
“This grant is gong to help patients at Loma Linda and around the world,” says Mr. Coy.
“The prime objectives of Versacare are to support education and health care, so what better place to give to than Loma Linda,” says Mr. Yaeger.
“Thank you; I’m overwhelmed,” says Dr. Ruckle. “This is a wonderful gesture. We’re going to use this to get some hard data to answer some very pointed questions.”
