Huma Shah, DrPH

Huma Shah, DrPH, MPH has 20 years of health care administration experience spanning strategic planning, leadership development, marketing, community and business development. Dr. Shah has worked worked in healthcare and higher education settings in the U.S. and abroad. She is passionate about leadership and innovations in healthcare delivery using strategic thinking and values based leadership principles. Most recently she served as a strategy advisor for HC2 Strategies and a specialty hospital located in Abu Dhabi. She has served as a faculty here at Loma Linda University School of Public Health from 2012-2015 and worked as the Director of Research for Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center, where she was working towards reducing the stigma of mental illness and addiction through research, marketing and comunity based efforts. During her time with the the psychiatric hospital, she was an integral part of the leadership team and was actively involved in strategic initiatives across the hospital and University.

 

Dr. Shah returned from the UAE and rejoined the School of Public Health full time as of August 2018 and is a member of the Center for Leadership and Health Systems. She teaches or has previously taught in the following areas related to her practice experience: Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, Strategic Planning, Health Policy Communications, Health Care Delivery, and Marketing. A former recipient of the Dysinger Excellence in Teaching Award, Dr. Shah loves the art of teaching and connecting with her students to help them achieve their purpose in life.  Her research interests include organizational strategy/culture, health policy, leadership, clinical outcomes, and spirituality in the workplace.
