Jason Wallen, MD
Assistant Professor, Cardiothoracic Surgery
School of Medicine

I am a board certified general thoracic surgeon, specializing in minimally invasive pulmonary surgery, minimally invasive esophagogastric surgery including video assisted thoracic lobectomy, sub-lobar resections, thoraco-laparoscopic esophagectomy and laparoscopic management of benign disorders of the gastro-esophageal junction such as gastro-esophageal reflux disease and motility disorders. I have a special interest in the endoscopic management of tracheo-bronchial disease and esophageal disease, as well as image guided thoracic surgery, such as CT guided biopsies of thoracic lesions, and radio-frequency ablation of thoracic neoplasms.

As the director of the Thoracic Oncology Clinic, my goal and my responsibility is to coordinate the process of moving a patient through from diagnosis to treatment of their thoracic malignancies. My goal is to provide the most advanced and patient centered care for thoracic onclology patients in  Southern California.

As Director of Esophageal Surgery, my goal and responsibility is to develop the minimally invasive esophageal surgical program, coordinate the care of complicated patients with dysfunctions of swallowing and reflux, as well as neoplastic disease. I participate in the multidisciplinary management of esophageal disorders through our monthly multidisciplinary GI conference.
