Dr. Gamboa-Maldonado teaches in the area of global health program planning and evaluation. She is a bilingual (English/Spanish) professional with background and experience in the biological sciences, neuroscience research, women’s studies, health promotion and education, and health ministries. Her doctoral work focused on the use of community-based participatory research (CBPR) methods as an approach to build community disaster resilience by connecting local public health departments and low income Latino communities of the Inland Empire. She was a Co-Investigator with the UCLA Preparedness and Emergency Response Research Center (PERRC) at Loma Linda University and has served as a consultant with Samaritan’s Purse and UC Davis on a study that evaluated the use of SMS texting to enhance exclusive breastfeeding among adolescent mothers in Honduras, Central America.
