Patient Care Patient Care

Am. Care Clinical Pharmacist - Ambulatory clinical pharmacist for the Behavioral Medicine Service at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare Network. Responsibilites include: interpreting and processing prescription orders, counseling patients, providing drug information to staff, providing drug information to patients through individual sessions and presentations, work with several clozapine patients as primary provider between physician visits, order lab tests as needed, precept PharmD students from 3 pharmacy schools with faculty appointments at each school. Started precepting students from Lomal Linda University School of Pharmacy in March 2008 and have continued at the 4 schools. I have prescriptive authority at the VA for psychiatric practice. Behavioral Medicine Clinical Pharmacist responsible for the ambulatory clinic, intake team and chemical dependency areas for medication order processing and entry, patient consultation, provision of drug information and consultation to attending and resident staff, as well as nurse practitioners. Also, I consult when needed to the Intensive Inpatient Unit. I have a scope of practice including prescriptive authority and ability to order labs and consults as required. I precept Pharm.D. students from 3 Schools of Pharmacy for their Psychiatry clerkship rotations and am adjucnt faculty for each school. I am a member of the VA Medical Center's Pain Board and Pharmacy Service's Professional Standards Board, and am a Patient Satisfaction Ambassador. I provide patient education to the Posttraumatic Stress Disorder program (PCT) and the Depression Group. Finally, I provide a series of lectures on psychopharmacology to the Psychology Intern program at the VA. During the year i participated on VISN 22's Bipolar Guidelines Work Group for the VA.

Member of Pain Board, Pharmacy Service Professional Standards Board and Pharmcy Interview Team at VA. Provide psychopharmacology lectures to Psychology Intern program at VA.
