The National Children’s Study funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the US Environmental Protection Agency. This is the largest long-term study of children’s health and development ever to be conducted in the United States. The 3.4 billion dollar study will involve 105,000 children from birth to the age of 21 years to better understand the link between the environments in which they are raised and their physical and mental health and development. San Bernardino County will be affiliated with the larger Vanguard Center based in University of California, Irvine (PI: James Swanson). Other collaborating partners include: Departments of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology (LLU School of Medicine), San Bernardino County Public Health Department and California State University San Bernardino.
