• Molecular Mechanisms of Organ injury in Trauma/Hemorrhagic shock. During this time, I developed several hemorrhagic shock animal models and studied the molecular mechanisms that led to shock-induced end organ injury. My other area of focus was to investigate the anti-apoptotic properties of albumin and its use as a resuscitative fluid in hemorrhagic shock. ( 7/2003 - 6/2005 )

  Non-Funded Research Project

• Novel Anti- cancer drug designing and testing in breast cancer:  Actively involved indesigning and testing novel STAT3 (Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 3) inhibitors to treat breast cancer. ( 7/2008 - 1/2011 )

• Principle Investigator: Breast Abnormalities Detected Solely by MRI Prior to Breast Surgery: Effect of Imaging Guidelines. A large database study focused to develop MR imaging guidelines for breast cancer patients. ( 9/2008 - 0/2011 )

• Skeletal Muscle Tissue Engineering and Angiogenesis - As a postdoctoral research fellow, under the direction of Drs. Folkman and Marler, I was involved in skeletal muscle tissue engineering, which entailed generating skeletal muscle constructs from fetal myoblasts and investigating its role as a muscle substitute in a mouse model. I also studied the neural development and angiogenesis in the implanted skeletal muscle constructs. ( 6/2000 - 5/2001 )
