Self Care and Community Outreach ORPR 5221


 This web-based course is a two unit course for the second-year students in Orthotics and Prosthetics.  The class includes one unit of instruction in personal and professional wholeness and development, and one unit in community outreach or service learning.  The curriculum includes a field trip to the Museum of Tolerance, 24 hours of service learning, and five self-selected options for completion.

Portfolio Program Director


Coordinate portfolio program for the School of Allied Health Professions.  Over 350 students are now registered in the various courses.  The Wil Alexander Wholeness Series is a curriculum component in all courses.  Classes are web-based and require Canvas use to access resources and submit assignments.  Director coordinates staff of 3 (2 faculty, 1 assistant). Students enroll from programs across the School of Allied Health Professions:  physical therapy, cardiopulmonary, clinical lab, communication sciences and disorders, health information, radiation technology, physician assistant, orthotics and prosthetics.

All portfolio courses are now web-based, with the exception of orientation and the Wil Alexander Wholeness Series workshops that are an integral part of the curriculum.  All assignments are submitted on Canvas, and resources are found on Canvas.  Students work independently as in online courses.
