This course reviews the basics of scientific methods and research design with an emphasis on evidence and empirical data. Students are taught to how to read product inserts and research to come to appropriate conclusions. Lectures and discussion stress the need to read more than abstracts and conclusions of research reports. Clinically significant topics including dentin bonding agents, dental material toxicity, caries indicating dyes, tooth bleaching procedures, fluoride regimens, and minimally invasive dental techniques are used as starting points for discussion and critique. 7/2007 Liners and Bases Guest lecturer for Operative Dentistry course 3/2007 - 6/2007 Review of General Dentistry: Dental Materials Comprehensive 10-lecture course covering the clinical application and science of dental materials.
