PHTH 548 Function-Based Rehabilitation


This evidenced-based course covers physical therapy practice relevant to adult neurological rehabilitation. Areas of emphasis include an NDT perspective on clinical decision-making and functional recovery after neurological injury. Students will be exposed to material through a blended learning pedagogy including flipped classroom, problem-based learning, literature review, lecture, discussion, and intensive laboratory sessions focused on mastery of manual therapy application.

This evidenced-based course covers physical therapy practice relevant to adult neurological rehabilitation. Areas of emphasis include vestibular rehabilitation and general imbalance. Students will be exposed to material through a blended learning pedagogy including flipped classroom, problem-based learning, literature review, lecture, discussion, and intensive laboratory sessions focused on mastery of manual therapy application.

OCTH 531 Sensory Integration I


This evidenced-based course covers physical therapy practice relevant to adult neurological rehabilitation. Areas of emphasis include vestibular rehabilitation, NDT, PNF, and constraint-induced movement therapy with integration of neurologic and orthopedic rehabilitation strategies through activities of daily living. Students will be exposed to material through a blended learning pedagogy including flipped classroom, problem-based learning, literature review, lecture, discussion, and intensive laboratory sessions focused on mastery of manual therapy application.

Physical therapy examination and management of individuals with spinal cord injury and lower extremity amputation resulting in impairments, functional limitations and disabilities. Emphasis is placed on application and integration of theoretical constructs, evidence-based practice, examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention and outcome measurement.

Physical therapy management of neurological disorders affecting adults across the spectrum of life. Pathologies including stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Guillian-Barre syndrome, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis are considered. Emphasis is placed on the application and integration of theoretical constructs, evidenced-based practice, examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, and measurement of outcomes.
