NRGS 544 Teaching and Learning Theory
This is a 3 unit course to help prepare the graduate student for the teaching role by the exploration of various theories of learning as they apply to a college environment and the clinical setting. Students develop a philosophy of teaching and learning; probe teaching and learning from the student perspective; study teaching techniques and learning outcome measures and have the opportunity to practice some teaching strategies. Guest faculty share best practices for about 10 of the 30 hours of class.

This course is a combination of teaching methods since the purpose is to expose the graduate students the many ways students learn. Teaching methods include active learning methodologies: small group activities, student presentations, in class papers, discussion groups, debates, etc.
