Nrsg - 305 - Nursing pharmacology: Interactive learning done through book website. Quizzes done online through Blackboard. Different activities done during lectures every quarter. Crossword puzzles, case studies, group work done. Approx hours: 10-12 hours/ Fall, winter and Spring quarters Nrsg 308 - Adult and Aging client: Students engage in 12 hour day clinicals for 8 hours. Group work is also done in the lecture setting as well as practice questions embedded in lectures. Group work done with GI lectures. Also, skills series done as independent study for students. Approx hours: 16 hours/ every fall, winter, and spring quarter
9/2006 - 7/2007 Interactive Teaching
Nrsg 305 - Nursing Pharmacology: Interactive teaching was done with small group learning, crossword puzzle, workbook problems that were designated to be turned in. Class size: 45-53 students per quarter Approx hours: 10-12 hours of student's time in every quarter: Fall, Winter, and Spring Nrsg 308 - Adult and Aging Client: All students attend 8 weeks of one 12 hour clinical day on a general medical surgical unit. In class learning is from questions, using iClickers for student interaction in answering questions, small groups for GI lecture, lab groups for practice question games. Class size: 45-57 students per quarter Approx. hours: 10-12 hours for each quarter: Fall, Winter, and Spring.
9/2005 - 6/2006 Adult & Aging Client AND Nursing pharmacology
Adult and Aging Client: Students attend 2-day clinicals for 12 hours (5 hours one day, 7 hours the next)for a total of 7 weeks, the first week is a seminar day and then a clinical day. Interactive teaching has been done using video case studies, role modeling evidenced by stories told by teachers of personal experiences in the field. Evaluation reports done by clinical instructors for the students. Class averages from 45-55 Nursing Pharmacology: Class broken into small groups to each group evaluates a current article regarding medication use or practice. All done within the class period. Use of Blackboard for communication, quizzes and evaluations every quarter. Quizzes are weekly. Also used case studies for majority of lectures, students can do as groups. Encourage student participation in lectures.

Students will do assigned book chapters in NCLEX style formatted questions. Mastery Level 5 is required for course.
9/2007 - 7/2007 New instructional material
Nrsg 305 - Nursing pharmacology: Re-vamped majority of the lectures, updating new drugs/drug classifications as necessary. Introduced new material and new instructor for Winter and Spring quarters. Re-did 3 new topics/ lectures for Winter and Spring quarters. Revision of exam questions for each quarter is done standardly to minimize potential cheating of questions. Revised Blackboard quizzes and utilized Blackboard for all grading purposes. Nrsg 308 - Adult and Aging Client: Total revision of syllabus and outline done due to change of textbook. Revision of pagination done Winter quarter when textbook edition changed. Incorporated companion website quizzes into the syllabus as well as utilized Blackboard for grading system. Syllabus changed to reflect new book. Utilization of iClickers to engage students into more interactive classroom participation.
3/2006 - 6/2006 Adult & Aging Client, Nursing Pharmacology
Adult & Aging Client: revamped the whole syllabus prior to this quarter due to a changed of edition in the book. Use of video case study in class to enhance student participation. Always revamping lectures to make sure the newest information or changes in care of med-surg clients are added. Nursing Pharmacology: Updating of drug information, increased use of power point and adding group work so that students are involved with recent medication articles.
9/2005 - 6/2014 Teaching materials
For all 3 quarters: Adult & Aging Client: Updating lectures to include any change in caring for med-surg clients. In winter and spring quarters: Utilizing ATI non-proctored exam as part of entrance to the final exam. Nursing Pharmacology: Updated any drug information and power point lectures. In Spring quarter, started group presentations in class on recent medication related articles.
