Pramil N. Singh, DrPHDirector Born in New Zealand, Dr. Singh completed his undergraduate work at University of California, Los Angeles and doctoral training in epidemiology at Loma Linda University. During the past decade, his research has focused on the study and measurement of lifestyle exposures (diet, tobacco, physical activity) in population-based studies in the U.S. and Asia. He has authored or co-authored numerous reports in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has been a PI or co-I on grants from the NIH, DHHS, and ASPH. At Loma Linda University, he holds a joint faculty appointment in Epidemiology and Global Health. (Recent Work) |

Wesley James, MA, MPHAssistant Director Mr. James received his bachelor’s degree in religion and psychology from Spicer Memorial College in Pune, India; and a master’s degree in psychology from Pune University. Then seeing the need and importance of health education, he obtained a master’s degree in global health and health promotion at Loma Linda University. He served as Project Director for the Tobacco Prevention Program in Kern County, and for a community-based organization in San Bernardino, California – both funded by California Proposition 99. Then he worked for a grant writing agency where he gained experience in grant writing and proposal development for both private and public sectors. Prior to joining CHR, he served as Senior Pre-award Research Analyst at the Office of Research Affairs in LLU. He enjoys planning and participating in mission projects, and volunteers for an international television ministry. At CHR, his main goal is to promote the science of public health globally. |

Kristy Arthur, MPHResearch Analyst A recent graduate from the MPH in Global Epidemiology program at Loma Linda University, Ms. Arthur’s epidemiologic interests are to study the interactions of culture and health. Before coming to CHR, Ms. Arthur gained experience using qualitative and quantitative methods to develop questionnaire tools. She was an investigator on a mixed-methods project to assess complementary and alternative medicine use among cancer patients. Ms. Arthur has also travelled to multiple hospitals and clinics in South Africa and the America’s to further her understanding of the interactions between culture and health. While in Belize, she worked with the International Red Cross to develop KAP surveys to assess diabetes in rural communities. At CHR, Ms. Arthur will be working on developing instruments to collect lifestyle data from multiethnic populations. |

Michael Batech, MPHResearch Analyst Mr. Batech is highly skilled in data analysis and applied epidemiology and works on the research projects and large-scale population databases maintained by the Center. Before coming to CHR, he completed numerous projects in academic epidemiology, clinical, and public health settings that include the National Children's Study, the Adventist Health Study, LLU Medical Center, and San Bernardino County Public Health department. He is also a doctoral candidate in epidemiology, and through dissertation research, is working to improve the health of the community by investigating prenatal exposures and adverse infant outcomes in some of the most underserved areas of the region.
