Continuing Education

Continuing Professional Education credit (12.5 units) will be available for the Healthy People 2010: Crisis and Opportunity conference in the following areas: MD, DO, PA and NP (eligible for category I CME), Registered Nurses (BRN), Certified Health Educators (CHES), Registered Dietitians (RD), Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Chaplains. When you register for the conference, please indicated the discipline for which you are applying. You will also need to provide your license number. A $45 fee covers all 12.5 units. Continuing Education Evaluation Forms will be provided during the Conference for individuals requiring CE certification for this event. Please remember to turn in your evaluation forms at the end of the Conference. It is essential that we receive these forms to process your CE credits.

Purpose

The mission of Healthy People 2010 is to bring people together to share information and develop strategies for achieving a new level of success in creating healthy communities. We convene a high quality conference on health that generates energy for change and provides relevant resources, resource information, and continued professional education for health professionals. We provide access to strong leaders and public advocates to stimulate informed and relevant dialogue in an environment of honest inquiry and facilitate efforts by people of diverse backgrounds and interests to reframe the conversations around health.

Objectives

1. Review the challenges that health care leaders are facing
2. Assess lifestyle practices that can best protect against chronic diseases that consume 83 percent of every health care dollar, yet are the most preventable of all diseases
3. Translate clinical research into community-based programs
4. Examine the role of performance profiles for quality assessment and improvement
5. Develop strategies for building strong coalitions of diverse partners for the purpose of shaping future plans for vibrant communities

Continuing Medical Education Credits

Loma Linda University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Loma Linda University School of Medicine designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Registered Dietitians

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is a Continuing Professional Education Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Registered dietitians and dietetic technicians, registered will receive 12.5 continuing professional education units for completion of this program.

Registered Nurses

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 00239 to offer this event for 12.5 contact hours. Loma Linda University Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). This event meets the qualifications for 12.5 continuing education credits by the ANCC.

Respiratory Therapists

Respiratory Care Practitioners reciprocate with BRN approval for 12.5 continuing education credits.

Social Workers/Marriage Family Therapists/Chaplains

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), Provider Number PCE 437, and this event meets the qualifications for 12.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
