Continuing Professional Education credit (13.0 units) will be available for the Healthy Communities by Design 2011 conference in the following areas: Certified Health Educators, Chaplains, Marriage and Family Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Registered Dietitians, Registered Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Social Workers and Speech Pathologists. When you register for the conference, please indicate the discipline for which you are applying. You will also need to provide your license number. Admission fees cover all 13 units. Continuing Education Evaluation Forms will be provided during the Conference for individuals requiring CE certification for this event. Please remember to turn in your evaluation forms at the end of the Conference. It is essential that we receive these forms to process your CE credits.

Purpose

The Healthy Communities by Design Summit provides a forum to promote the discussion on the effects of the built environmental on human health. This summit will serve as a bridge between the university and the surrounding community thus promoting long-lasting partnerships. This summit will also disseminate ideas, knowledge, best practices, and the importance and use of geographic information systems (GIS) into the community and among the university.

Objectives

1. Summit attendees will be able to demonstrate a understanding of the fundamental properties of healthy community design  and how it relates to individual health.
 
2. Summit attendees will gain a broad understanding of the various uses of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology in the health field and how it may be applied to their own professional needs.
 
3. Summit attendees will become engaged and learn about the various local healthy community initiatives within the Inland Empire.

Health Educators

Loma Linda University School of Public Health is designated as a provider of Category I continuing education contract hours in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. The NCHEC Multiple Event Provider (MEP) number is CA0024. The event will be available for 13.0 hours.

Occupational Therapists

Occupational Therapists reciprocate with SLPA PDP#42 for 13.0 continuing education credits.

Physical Therapists

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is recognized as a Continuing Competency Approving Agency by the Physical Therapy Board of California. This event is approved for 13.0 CE credits.

Registered Dietitians

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is a Continuing Professional Education Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Registered dietitians and dietetic technicians, registered will receive 13.0 continuing professional education units for completion of this event.

Registered Nurses

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 00239 to offer this event for 13.0 contact hours.

Loma Linda University Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). This event meets the qualifications for 13.0 continuing education credits by the ANCC.

Respiratory Therapists

Respiratory Care Practitioners reciprocate with BRN approval for 13.0 continuing education credits.

Social Workers/Marriage Family Therapists/Chaplains

Loma Linda University Medical Center, Staff Development is approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), Provider Number PCE 437, and this event meets the qualifications for 13.0 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Speech Pathologists
