Continuing Professional Education credit (11.0 units) will be available for the Healthy Communities by Design Summit in the following areas/disciplines: Social Work, Speech-Language Pathology, Health Educators, Respiratory Care Practitioners, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists, Chaplains, Commission on Dietetic Registration, Nursing, American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), National Board of Public Health Examiners and National Commission for Health Education credentialing (NCHEC).

When you register for the conference, please indicate the discipline for which you are applying. You will also need to provide your license number. You must register for CE when you register for the conference. Continuing Education Evaluation Forms will be provided during the summit for individuals requiring CE certification for this event. Please remember to turn in your evaluation forms at the end of the summit. It is essential that we receive these forms to process your CE credits.

Purpose
Loma Linda University School of Public Health (LLUSPH) has partnered with Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri) to establish the third annual “Healthy Communities by Design” Summit to be held October 1 - 2, 2012. The summit will bring together a unique cross section of key leadership, policy makers, and early adopters across health promotion experts, environmental health, design, city/community planners, green initiative, and built environment disciplines to serve as a platform to continue the conversations among thought leaders on the environmental factors in our cities that affect our health, and discuss ways to improve and support existing initiatives on building healthy communities.

Objectives
At the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the major health issues caused by the natual or built environment (natural or built) within the community
  2. Discuss the efforts by local community leaders and organizations to address the environmental  hazards (built or natural) that causes ill health within the community
  3. Discuss the role that geographic information systems (GIS) plays in the efforts to create healthy communities by design

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
Loma Linda University Medical Center is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation to offer this seminar for 11.0 contact hours.

Certified Public Health (CPH)
The Loma Linda University School of Public Health is a pre-approved provider of CPH recertification credits by the National Board of Public Health Examiners. This event will earn 11.0 recertification credits.

Chaplains
Chaplains reciprocate with California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Commission on Dietetic Registration
