Health Disparities Awareness Campaign - January 30, 2009

Loma Linda University School of Public Health is partnering with the Latino Health Collaborative, Healthy Communities San Bernardino, and Kaiser Permanente to present the documentary UnNatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? on January 30, 2009 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Dr. Tony Iton, who is featured in the documentary, will be the moderator and special speaker. Dr. Iton is the Director and Health Officer for the Alameda County Public Health Department and has worked extensively in addressing health disparities.

Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod and County Supervisor Josie Gonzales will also join attendees for the viewing and discussion of this documentary. The  session will focus on the episode: Becoming American, which features Dr. Tony Iton and examines the relationship between wealth and health as well as the immigrant health experience. How is the Latino Paradox manifested in our community? How can community stakeholders partner with the Public Health Department to effectively address health disparities in our region?

Registration is free. Register early as interest has exceeded expectations.
