About the Pacific Public Health Training Center

The pacific public health training center is a joint effort of the four California Schools of Public Health and the University of Hawaii School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene. As a member of the national Public Health Training Network, the goal of the PPHTC is to develop and support effective public health training opportunities that address community health needs and are consistent with Healthy People 2010 Objectives. The PPHTC geographic coverage area includes the Utah, Nevada, California, Hawaii, and the Pacific Rim.

Courses and Newsletter Updates

A new course entitled Obesity and Overweight is now available. This course provides background on the overweight problem as it relates to children and adolescents in the United States. It also gives an overview of important prevention strategies and recommendations for health care providers.

The PPHTC now offers a newsletter that provides information on activities and events of interest to public health professionals. You may view previous newsletters or subscribe to the listserv in order to receive future announcements via e-mail.
