Cindy Dickson has joined the Research Affairs team as the new pre-award analyst.
NIH has approved the Department of Medicine to be a host site for a live web-based course titled “Introduction to the Principles and Practice of Clinical Research (IPPCR).”

In order to meet the deadline for the new conflict of interest regulations (August 24, 2012), a new electronic system has been developed for the submission of conflict of interest disclosures.

Guidelines for Research Authorship
Please take note of the institutional Authorship Guidelines which address:
- the criteria for authorship of a scholarly manuscript, publication, or presentation;
- what does NOT qualify for authorship;
- author responsibilities;
- co-author responsibilities;
- order of authorship;
- acknowledgement of contributors; and
- authorship disputes.

The February 7, 2012 issue of Nature discussed grant fraud charges brought against Craig Grimes, who accepted funding from two sources for the same work. "'It is not a problem to apply for funds for the same research at different funding agencies, but it is illegal to accept and use the funding,' says Christine Boesz, a former inspector-general for the NSF."
